I think indoor gathering is taken a little to literally but I realize some are more scared than others. I expanded my Thanksgiving slightly to beyond my household to close people who I've seen throughout the pandemic. Other people continued to have parties...I actually saw someone who had an indoor wedding over the weekend and people were not wearing masks. I'm not sure how that was even allowed to happen.

Pretty twisted thinking if you believe such things give other's pleasure. But hey, that's the right wingers mindset.... seeing others suffer makes them feel better, so... at least that is consistent.

We cancelled Thanksgiving and Christmas. Usually its my two aunts, mother, brother's family (nephews, etc). Just doesn't make any sense to do. None.

I'm confused--how you can not cancel a dinner in your own home?

I just don't know.

That's pretty much why we ended up cancelled our Thanksgiving.

My sister is a nurse directly treating COVID patients and my mother manages a nursing home. Made sense to just cancel everything even if they are now all pissed at me.

Christmas this year is gonna be so much fun.

Well if she's working directly with COVID patients then yeah that's a no brainer.

I have no idea what my family thinks will happen for xmas. Everyone thinks I'm the grinch/scrooge who just doesn't want to be around people...which is basically true i guess at this point. It's just interesting to me that I'm the only one who seemed to care.

We had the 5 of us for thanksgiving (3 kids) and thats it. We told my SIL and child to stay home, and told my dad to stay home )(though I brought him containers of food)

What are we doing for xmas/hanukkah? No idea yet. Probably the same.

I just watched the daily briefing from Gov. Baker. Talked about 36 clusters associated with places of worship, which have led to hundreds of cases. Also cautioned, especially the young folks, to not get lulled by the "apparent" low death rate in MA during this second wave.

Above all, continuing to feel reassured that we have a state government that is taking this very seriously!

Why are people not worried about indoor weddings? How are they allowed? People are having them...but then pointing fingers at people for having parents over their house, lol.

I agree, those major parties/events are potentially more damaging. Even if there are small transgressions like yours, we need to lighten up on each other in this forum, IMO.
