Not sure what either of these terms mean.

do you mean predatory lenders? I know of no such thing as a predatory borrower.

I don't know of any loans that specifically had lies in them, either. The terms of the mortgage are spelled out, and the people who took them either didn't know/understand the terms of the loan or took the loan with an understanding that they could benefit from the loan as the terms were written (ie. those home buyers who took an adjustable rate mortgage because they planned to sell the house before the rate adjustment).

But yes, when I say "big business" I'm talking about these financial firms in this sector that weren't regulated by the government (but should have been). They got greedy, made bad deals, and brought the whole economy down with them.

I don't disagree that radical environmentalism can stifle economic growth, but I can't imagine how it could ever cause the type of damage that these big businesses have caused recently with their implosions.

Liar loan is slang for "no income verification." Those are the predatory borrowers, as well as those who thought they would make a killing in the market. Let them fall. More good deals for me!

The Maine economy remains fairly stable due to our long history of not creating economic stability and infrastructure. If you are already established here, it is easy to ride out any downturn.

I should have bought land up higher, maybe on the side of a slope.

I did make an offer to buy one sloping property in Liberty Maine. But it failed a perc test. 20 acres and all of it had ledge.

That's where I'm lucky... only half of my property is ledge.

The other half is swamp.
