I cut my firewood for next winter. The swamp out back freezes up so that I can get my tractor out to where I cut.

Snowshoeing, evening dessert parties with coffee/wine/champagne. Visiting with my sister (now that she's back in Maine!) while our husbands play pool at their house.

Drinking (cheap) champagne while planning future "art" projects with my friend while our husbands go ice fishing for salmon and then they play "catch and release" with what we thought would be supper and they also decide to leave the sunfish on the ice for the eagles.

Also, this winter my friend and plan to sign up for an evening cake decorating class held at the local high school. We told our DHs that we would bring home 2 cakes after every class.

Also winter is when my DH and I make our raku pottery as it gets fired in an outside kiln at nearly 2000 degrees. I'll do some knitted wool felting, practice more on my violin and guitar, and enjoy plenty of time near the woodstove and use any excuse to retire early in the evening to catch up on my reading while DH enjoys some tv. Unless American Idol is on--then we'll watch that together and make bets on who will win. Yeah, I love me a good Maine Wintah!

You should hear them scream. Poor Courtney. "We're gonna diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeee! " She's a good sport. She's from Florida...she had no idea what she was getting herself into. Wanna go? We have lots of sleds!
