The Penobscot has dropped 4 feet from its crest. It was around 21.5 feet and has dropped to 17.5 feet at Enfield. When it was at its peak water was running UP Birch Stream and UP Dead Stream.

Fortunately for me, my creek bed is low enough and far enough away that it doesn't pose a proble, though for the first time I could hear the water rushing while standing in the driveway (a distance of some 300 yards or more).

I did have a new duck pond in the front yard for a few days, complete with a very handsome Mallard and his mate. I'm thinking of making it a permanent feature.

Any word from Forest and B today? I know KAF's getting ready to go out of town. Is anyone else in touch with them?

I talked to KAF just a bit ago about other stuff and she did not mention anything about their status. Water looks to be still going down, slowly, other places around here so my guess is they are still pumping, letting stuff drip dry and praying that the predicted rain (we've seen sprinkles) goes SOUTH.

My son has been showing me You Tube videos posted of up there. It looks devestating. Someone in his snowmobile forum posted an ariel video, a nice birds eye view of what Fort Kent looked like yesterday.

My prayers are with everyone.

Steve has been in his job for 17 years. He had to go to Ashland to look at a woodyard and log piles last week because of the flood. It's the first time in 17 years he's ever had to do this.
