Haven't made any in about 15 years. Homemade is so much better than store bought.

Sad in a way, I mean whatever happens to a recipe like that? That was a good bottle of beer.

Oh and my wife has some sort of homemade Kahlua recipe too. We still have some in a jug she made years ago. The last time I had a sombrero with it I was up wide eyed until 4 am. I look at it but I don't dare drink it.

Sorry for digging up a long cold thread, but I found some yesterday. Of all places Washburn Food Mart had a 12 of cans in stock. It is called White Birch Beer and is put out by "Shur Fine" of all things. So if there is a "Shur Fine" grocery store around your area, you might check to see if they have any in stock, If not, they might be able to get some for you. It is kind of mild for a Birch Beer, but it IS clear and does have good flavor.

Shur Fine is the label that Associated Grocers of Maine uses in the small stores they service.

Too bad Stan's at Madawaska Lake is long gone now then. He was "home of the 10 cent coffee" for YEARS before he closed up and they finally tore the old falling down building he was in down. As my Brother used to say,"10 cent coffee, you do get what you pay for! Better than no coffee, but not by a wide margin."

I've seen a Shur Fine in Wiscasset and one in Lisbon!

We have Market Basket grocery stores here across the maple curtain. They have their own store brand and they too make a Birch Beer soda. I've heard you can also make birch syrup.
