Two days ago the Piscataquis was running at about 800 CFS. Today it is running at about 8,000 CFS. Most Northern Maine rivers are the same. OK, wake up the trout. They can spawn now.

More river records:

The Carabasset has gone from 70 CFS to over 10,000 CFS.

Austin Stream went from 7 CFS to 1,800 CFS.

The Swift River went from 11 CFS to 6,000 CFS.

The Androscoggin went from 1,000 CFS to 17,000 CFS and is nearly double it’s all time high for the date at Wentworth Location.

The St John at Nine Mile Bridge went from 480 CFS to 19,000 CFS. That’s nearly 6,000 CFS above the all time record and it’s still rising fast.

Maine’s Western Mountains had a deluge and it isn’t over yet.

Old Mother Nature is catching up!

By the way; Nine Mile Bridge had an actual concrete bridge years ago when the builders expected it to be part of an east/west highway. It went out from a combined flood and ice jam one spring. One the abutments is still there. People who canoe the river are amazed that the big concrete abutment is there.

Currently here, at Aurora, Maine 44F, Dew Point 39F., Winds NW 2 MPH...Clear - with most Constilations visable!
Drove to work under a clear sky this morning. After leaving work, we noticed the Penbscot River almost at FLOOD state...So good to see this lovely river once again swift with movement...with life!
As we reached home, we saw the, "Splash," of our local Beaver in the Lower Dam, who's waters were once again deep!
So goes life in this area of Maine....Off of Route 9....In Peace we hold her!

NWS out of Caribou say 1/2 to 1" of rain, Sunday into Monday. Fox news says 5 inches PLUS for central Maine. If that happens, it will be a foot of rain for this month. Dark Sky says dangerous winds along with heavy rain.

This is quite a spread between forecasts.

Currently here, in Aurora, ME 57F, Dew Point 50F, Winds NNE, 7MPH...There is a High Wind Warning for our area from 2:00am Tomorrow until 2:00pm
Winds SSE, 30MPH with Gusts up to 75MPH.....
Looks like a Big Blow is on it's way up the Coast and is aiming at us! So, we spent some time bringing in our lawn chairs, tables, gardening tools, wheelbarrow and the Bird Feeders (and anything else we could think of that might become a missle in the storm)..
Closing down the day, as the inky darkness envelopes the Birch Meadows and Debussy's Claire de Lune, plays softly in the backgound (the extended version)... It's wind-down time...sweet reflections of the day and weekend...Until sleep...
Sweet Dreams and stay safe, friends!!!

My Kubota is fueled up and on the hauling trailer. Chain saw has fresh gas, as does the generator. My neighbor at the lake with a one lane driveway will likely lose power. I checked and he has plenty of oxygen for a week. They have a gas cook stove so they will be OK. If there is a power failure on that road, they will be among the last to be reconnected. Tomorrow will be a good day to be inside if you don't need to go out.

Power has been out a lot the last few days [Old Town, Alton, Le Grange, Bradley]. People are used to it.

woke up without power this morning. on my way into work there was a massive tree laying across the road that took out the power lines. I had to throw it in 4x4 and make my own trail around the downed line and tree to get going again.

I've had my generator for 2 months now but because everything in maine takes so long, im still waiting for the propane company to hook it up to the fuel tank. so i have a 22kw generator sitting unused for 2 mos while we wait for the propane technicians....
