I swear it's not me. I built a fire to take the damp chill out of the house. UNCLE!

Yeah it's cruel. Colorado is burning down because of a long drought, and we are getting swamped.

At least it is more comfortable than the over 100 degree temps a friend of mine is having in Boise ID.. But I sure wouldn't mind at all seeing the sun for a full day.

Oh, good. It's nice to know I'm not the only one thinking that thought. Unfortunately, I'm only *thinking* about it- after 30 years, I'm fairly certain that Mrs. Z will think that the current temp is just fine and would raise cain if I lit a fire, and, I'd have to go out in the wet and split some wood...so I guess I won't bother.

What bothers me more is that I probably wasted all the Neem oil I sprayed on things yesterday.

Ahem...Anyone notice my tagline thingie? Looks like it didn't work.

I'm not fond of extreme heat, but damn....Summer means sun. This weather is just so blah.

Perhaps July will be better. Fingers crossed.

I let the ducks out before I fed the other birds yesterday. They spent the day running through the garden and lawn eating slugs and snails. They didn't go to the hopper when I let them in so they had plenty to eat.

Next week's forecast looks better starting Wednesday, and is nice through the long weekend. Or for now that's what it says.

I'm going to spend 10 hours in a bow hunter safety course today so I'm ok with it raining. It would be harder to sit in class all day if it were sunny. I'm fishing tomorrow, rain be damned.

Snails and slugs have been very bad here this year, real chore picking them off the young plants. Mrs. Z is too squeemish to kill them so it has to be done more often.

Organic approved insecticide/fungicide. I'm not a full-bore 'organic' nut, but I dislike the idea of wholesale use of the major commercial pesticides. Major insect/fungus problems dictate that I do *something* about it, so I've decided on alternate treatments of Neem and Bt.
