I have been receiving Down East each month since September 2007. I look forward to getting it and reading then re-reading it front to back. I also get Yankee Magazine but Down East is my favorite.

I know! More to pack.......problem is, I can't bring myself to throw the magazines that I've collected away. Right now, it's a very strong connection for me with Maine. I'm hoping that when it's time to pack and load the moving truck, I can finally let the old issues go. I have several issue from 2000 and 2001 still!

Our family always got DownEast magazine and DH & I still subscribe every year. I can't bring myself to throw it out so I recycle it to friends in other States so they can drool, and perhaps some day find themselves moving to Maine.

ok....the complaining is finally getting to me again.

say the following with a whine....

"it's cold"

"It's snowing"

"I have to shovel"

"I can't find a job that pays more than $30k a year"

blah blah blah

must be because I stayed up past my bedtime last night, but I'm completely out of sympathy for complainers.

I've had to start using my ignore button again....thankfully some of these people don't know me in real life because they'd be getting the "get off your a** and do something about it" speech......

Maine Writer I'm starting to think your resolution to not feed the trolls this year may be one I have to adopt as well. The problem is there is a fine line that the seasoned troll walks.....spouting negativity, name calling once in a while, etc......just enough to indicate the "troll", but not enough to be banned from the forum. It gets difficult to stomach the untruths and exaggerations.

so, there's *my* rant

on a good note we just got back from our New Year's brunch at the Algonquin....it was delicious!!

Bewitched how much snow are you forecasted to get there?

We're forecast for 7-12 inches here depending on which forecast you read! I was watching a boy in the neighborhood walking on the top of the snowbanks. He looked like he was having a blast! It's been a great week for school vacation. Molly I'm glad you had a nice time.
