No. What's insulting, though, is that we gave $40 Billion to Ukraine, when according to Jimmy Dore, we could end homelessness nationwide in this country for half of that.

No, we couldn’t … because homelessness is a rolling collateral effect of overpopulation rampantly leveraging successful materialistic economies, which leaves marginalized persons S.O.L. If you housed every homeless person in America today, you’ll have a fresh new batch emerging tomorrow and the day after and the day after that.

Aside from that, interesting how you are now such an advocate for helping the homeless, when just in recent years you were proposing they be herded up with electric cattle prods, loaded into helicopters to be dropped into the ocean and Pinochet’d out of sight for good, eh? Good for you. Nice turn around.

If you are correct about overpopulation then we need now more that ever the death penalty. It would be a start to lowering population and just might provide a deterrence effect for criminals too.

There's apparently a lot of opposition from lawmakers to the CARE court plan.

"...leaders of certain homeless, civil and disability rights groups expressed significant concerns about the possibility of forced treatment and the plan’s lack of housing available to shelter all those in need. County leaders raised questions about the eventual cost and the lack of a workforce to provide intensive services.

Those concerns were the focus of Tuesday’s lengthy Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Senate Bill 1338. The measure is one of two nearly identical bills introduced in April to establish Newsom’s historic plan, but the only one moving forward after the Assembly version was scuttled days before its own hearing."

One of the most ridiculous posts here, but I think you knew that.

They can act when they need to. They need to act more often.

"Cmdr. Billy Brockway Jr., the Los Angeles Police Department’s homeless coordinator, said the department played a supporting role in encampment cleanups around summit locations before this week’s events.

Brockway said multiple city cleanup operations in the area were directed by the mayor’s office and City Council leaders. He said the California Department of Transportation and the California Highway Patrol also oversaw their own encampment cleanups in areas under their jurisdiction before the summit.

Waiting for a bus near Olympic Boulevard and Georgia Street, Kareem Hendricks said he was staying at a nearby underpass of the 110 Freeway, until he and others were told to leave about two or three weeks ago. He said sanitation crews, LAPD officers and members of other agencies showed up. He said people were offered housing and shelter, but he did not take their offer."

Some L.A. homeless camps cleared as world leaders arrived for Summit of the Americas:
