Yes! Reaching out to other organization outside of your community can also benefit your own as well!

What is a “homeless advocate”? … and what argument did I plead? … that you don’t know the first thing about homelessness? You don’t.

Example?

For over 30 years, I have belonged to a small, non-profit organization comprised of a group of successful Vietnam veterans, providing housing for homeless vets in rehab and training programs. We have raised money through public and private grants to purchase, maintain and manage several houses providing rooms and communal kitchens and bathrooms for homeless vets who qualify.

30 years of fundings … not $0.01 ever pocketed by any of us. Not $0.01 ever funneled away to phony or unnecessary services. Balance sheets maintained by CPAs.

Over the course of these 30+ years you can bet your bottom dollar I have acquired a fair body of knowledge and experience about this topic.

Graft exists in all things human. So do good, honorable efforts. So does inefficiency in executing many best-intentioned plans.

LOTS of value is applied in assisting MANY homeless.

FACT: approx 75% of today’s homeless will not be homeless within a year. Many of them will have survived their journey through homelessness due to various forms of public and privately funded services.

FACT: during the same year that those persons served move on … even more formerly housed persons will become newly homeless.

FACT: your cynicism is not based in knowledge.

Most people are not complaining about the 75%, but the % that refuses to change. It is still a large number of people in each city.

Helping those who will accept it is a very good thing, such as you have done.

Not dealing with the ones who won't change, is the problem.

Your post has nothing whatsoever to do with what I addressed.

The poster I responded to wasn’t complaining about any % of homeless. He said that ‘ALL efforts to serve the homeless were scam industries, skimming billions and billions without serving anyone.’

I suspect he was talking about what Governments do with the money, not what groups like you have been associated with do.

We get most of our funding from governments.
So, THAT’s what governments do with a lot of the money he accuses of being misspent into graft.
