Looks like the Garcetti /Bonin Venice homeless shelter might violate
“California Environmental Quality Act and the Coastal Act

Hmmm... or they could you know .. enforce the laws and not tolerate sidewalk encampments like 99% of the rest of the country does .
There is absolutely no guarantee that the shelter will make things any better for local residents or that the encampments will go away .

It’s truly amazing for a city to have zero regard for tax payers and homeowners to such a degree .

““We face a stark choice between providing housing and shelter or allowing the proliferation of sidewalk encampments in our neighborhood,” Bonin said. “By fighting against solutions, [the plaintiff] perpetuates the problem and makes it exponentially worse.””

“The lawsuit said the Venice site is near homes that are “particularly susceptible” to the noise, traffic and parking that will result from opening a shelter.
It also contended that the site will “act as a magnet” for other homeless encampments and individuals who will create more environmental and social problems”

There seems to be a campaign to make more money on the destruction of innocent lives and once- nice communities...
"Come for the Sanctioned Drug Use!
STAY for the Consequence-Free Crime Environment. "
"The public servants, and advocates got your back ! You are welcome to come and be wet, sick, cold , high, and outside...mess the place up ! Its big huge money for us!! "

You can bet Becerra won't let an actual government agenty file suit to clean up anything or make anything better-- it will have to be citizens using the law to file suit. The left-wing environmentalist have proven the only green they are concerned with is the color of money- in fact, they have PROVEN to be anti- environment as well has anti-humanity... just look what is happening.... they will thwart any and all efforts to restore our quality of life or clean up the mess no matter how just the cause or pressing the need.

Here is the typical CA mentality. Sure sue LA for random crime.

Widow of murdered California camper files $90 million lawsuit: report

Instead LA should be sued for allowing mentally unstable transients to wonder the streets and for not locking them up in mental wards where they belong.

This story is so heartbreaking- a ruthless murder perpetrated by someone that everyone knew was dangerous- that's why he had no home. I remember this case as it was one of the first to use protective language for the murderous vagrant: "survivalist". Those poor little girls have to live with that awful memory for their whole lives just so a few people can profit from this contrived misery.
The lawsuit is a shame you are right: we are already paying big bucks for each of the criminal vagrants; more than enough to have them in a secured institution to get better care and away from innocent people that they have been harming.

The lawsuit is important though as it will help expose the greed, immorality, and malfeasance oppressing our state and country- if we don't get the protections we are paying so dearly for- we should sue- its worked in the past and the appeals can go all the way up: the system worked for a cake baker, it will work for murder victim's families and others.
My heart goes out to that mom and wife and those little girls along with the other family and friends and i hope they get the justice they deserve as well as some forced legal rectifications to this expanding human disaster. I also hope some of this pro homeless, pro crime folks get to go into a secured institution along with the people they have made so much money from.

Wow!

“Driving by on Burbank Boulevard, you may not immediately see it, but recent traffic when the area was down to one lane before the Christmas holiday left some drivers staring at what was beyond the brush.

“She said she was afraid of a confrontation with one of the countless people suffering from homelessness in the bushes.”

People who live nearby and reached out to NBC4 say some tents are so big, they appear like warehouses. They say they’ve seen the people who live here – some in what they call "tree houses" and using titles among themselves like "mayor" and "governor" of the encampment.”

From your link:

"At the same time, we have neighborhoods in parts of this city saying that while something needs to be done about homelessness, THEY DON'T WANT HOUSING AND SERVICE PROVIDERS IN THEIR COMMUNITY. As a result, encampments concentrate in areas like this, and it's not fair."

-Nury Martinez, L.A. City Councilwoman

Disgusting. And as Councilman Martinez confirmed what I've been stating on this forum, the homeless refuse help. They're content to live in these shantytowns and they don't care how anybody feels about it.

As she also stated, the homeless refuse help. And why should people want free housing centers built in their neighborhoods?
