the Floral Park-Bellerose-Glen Oaks movie theatre circuit; if you missed a show at one, it would move to the next and you could catch it!
Nunley's Amusement Park in Baldwin
Wetson's Hamburgers (which were driven out by McD's)
The original Roosevelt Field mall, only two lanes and they had:

Yes, it was the Thatched Cottage. We used to eat out there on special occaissions, until we tried going there on my sister's 1st communion, (which puts it somewhere in the mid-60's) when we found it had turned into a catered-only banquet hall.
But in the late 80s they had Buffet Brunches open to the Public.
Islip - 13 years. That is Islip itself, right off of Commack Rd. It was a pretty nice neighborhood. I've been back a few times and it still seems pretty good to me.
Okay, here's something I was reminded of today. I apologize if it comes across as being a "downer" but I don't mean it that way...
You know those "memorials" that people sometimes place at the site of where a loved one died in a car accident....we've all seen them.... Are they a uniquely Long Island thing? I seem to recall reading something a few years ago that said these aren't usually done in other areas, and that there's a tacit understanding that they aren't removed by whatever entity maintains our roadways.
It is true that I never noticed any of them when driving in CT, NJ, RI and Mass ... so now I wonder if they are indeed a "Long Island thing"?
Has anyone else seen 'memorials' at all, or with any regularity, elsewhere than on LI?
I've seen a lot of them in Florida and Rhode Island.
