Ah yes, the mystical magical Asians. Their kids don’t change a school but the parents who badger teachers and staff do, and not always for the better. Most of the kids are just average but some momma tigers will harangue a teacher until their kid becomes just a bit above average. After a while the teachers just take the path of least resistance and lower their standards.
The statistics on Asians and their performance in schools and standardized exams (APs, SATs, ACTs) would beg to differ.
Daaaaaaaang!!!! Even I didn't see that coming.....
BTW. I am seeing more and more white families moving into black parts of Deer Park and North Babylon. Same district for schools and 150k cheaper for same size property and house. A 450k house on deer parks west side will sell for 350 300k on deer parks black East side. Same school district . Same taxes. Same commute. As more and more families do this the prices will skyrocket. ....
Just wait until Neighborhood Rd gets sewer. It'll be a done deal.
1. Neighborhood Road gets sewer
2. Ppl with no kids start moving to Mastic, cause property taxes r cheap
3. Ppl with no kids who know how to cook or provide professional services move to Mastic to open places to start feeding and taking care of the ones that moved there before
4. Ppl with kids start moving because there's now neighborhood eateries and its "family friendly" and property taxes are still under 10K

Why can't LIRR be just as good as Metro-North? After all, aren't they both MTA?
"They" must want it that way
They are run as two separate railroads. The LIRR is poorly run in comparison, and there was major disability fraud going on for decades until finally caught in 2014.
Are you saying that we should bring high-speed ferry service from Suffolk County to Boston? I didn't even think of that one. The Long Island nimby is more innovative then they even realize. It could be connected to the high-speed rail at the Greenport LIRR station.
There is an underutilized high speed ferry service between Orient and New London. It shuts down in the winter or for very bad weather.
