To quote a Newsday article of yesterday:
"With hotel occupancy rates high and apartment vacancy rates low, federal, state and local officials have teamed up to bring a first-of-its-kind emergency housing program to post-Sandy Long Island. Contractors will be paid to perform "quick fix" repairs so residents can live in their storm-damaged homes during longer-term renovations."
If my home was uninhabitable due to the storm - the words "federal, state, and local officials", "first of it's kind program", and "quick fix" in the same paragraph sure would make me breath a sigh of relief.
Really and people claim they want less government...right Get ready for the tax increases...and of course the payoffs
People ALWAYS say they want less government - until such time as they want to put their hands into their neighbors pockets to take some of their money - then they call in the government to do it for them.

How true. It's usually the big conservatives and republicans, always screaming about welfare, etc., and how nobody should get money from the government for anything.
Yet when something happens to them, they are the first ones on line looking for a handout of other people's money via the gubmint.
If it were ONLY federal tax money that would be one thing. But as the government already borrows 40 cents on a dollar it spends - the sad part is that the children and grandchildren of the people at the trough of "government feed" to rebuild their homes are the ones that are ultimately going to pay the bill.

Let's hope 12/21/12 puts an end to it all and China never gets paid back.
