I was wondering if anyone could recommend a clean and reasonably priced Gym in the Lynbrook/East Rockaway area. Anywhere that is within a 5 minute drive from the area is fine. My wife and I are are close to buying a house in the area and I would like to join a gym in the area.
I would prefer a place that has a good amount of cardio equipment such as ellipticals and bikes. Clean locker rooms are preferred. Currently I'm a member of a gym in the city but they charge over $70 a month. But once we purchase our house I know there are certain things I'm going to have to cut back on.
I was looking at Balley's in Rockville Centre but the reviews of that place are not good.

My only recommendation is to avoid Bally's. You get what you pay for there.
I go to NY sports club in Oceanside, and it’s great. It’s close enough to East Rockaway if that helps.
Yea, my husband used to be a member at Ballys in Rockville Centre. Gross. I refused to go there, so I'd pay triple the membership for Crunch in the city. Glad I found NYSC in Oceanside Plus, if you get a passport membership, you can go to all of the other clubs in NY as well.

I live in ER. We actually have 2 gyms (Gennaro & ROK- just opened) and 2 martial arts centers. No idea on pricing, but check it out.

To be a little more specific I'm looking to pay about $30 or less a month for a basic gym. I've been to a couple of NY Sports Clubs and I found them all to be over priced and not worth it.
I'm currently a member of 24 Hour Fitness in NYC and I pay ~$70 a month. The gym is exceptional. They have a plethora or equipment and machines. The bathroom are very clean and you don't have weirdo's walking around with their junk hanging out like their in a Turkish bath house. I would love to stay at this gym but I need to make some cutbacks.
Has anyone tied Valley Fitness in Valley Stream? It seams decent and prices are right up my alley.
