Moving back to Vegas in May. 89134 Zip code.

We had previously lived in the Mountain's Edge community and the water there was very hard and we needed both a softener and whole house filter.

Just wanted to get an idea of the water quality in Summerlin. Is it the same all throughout Las Vegas?

I've gone through searh and some posts have said Summerlin water is not as hard as other newer areas.

I'm coming from the Bay Area, so water here is pretty good, but still has to be filtered as most houses have very old pipes.

BTW. Any locals chime in on thier experience with salt-free water softeners, and maybe a local installer/distributor.

Thanks for any advice!

I would bank on it being just as hard. Best to get yourself a water softener.

There is no reason indication that any of the no salt units actually work.

I would stick with a good salt unit and use the alternative salt pellets (potassium chloride?)

No magnets or nano particles...all technical jibberish.

Water through the basin is pretty uniform. At some times of the year in the NW they may cut the Colorado River stuff with local well water. But that local well water is very hard too.

I live in the 89134 zipcode and the water is definitely hard. We use a water softener. If we didn't all of our dishes would be covered in a white residue.

The house we bought has a 'Reionizer', no salt. I have no details about how it technically works, but we have no water problems for showering, laundry or dishwasher. Showers are just as soapy as my showers were in soft water on east coast.

I use bottled water as in bottle of bourban and bottle of diet Dew.

Our irrigation system which does not connect to the Reionizer does leave a white residue. But that's ok, I don't eat my plants.

The water is drinkable here in 89128. Compared with other places I have resided; I would rate the tap water as slightly above average in quality.
My ice cubes, laundry, and dishes are all looking good.

That's not too bad, Yeti. The water out in the most northern reaches of 89131 is reminiscent of pool water. As long as it's cold, it's not too bad.

I like bourbon as well, either Knob Creek or Makers Mark. If I'm drinking well bourbon (at casinos), I get it mixed with Coke. My first love, whisky wise, is Laphroaig Quarter Cask, usually neat.

Thanks everyone!

I've found a good priced water softener online. Now the search for a decent plumber to install. (please PM for any referrals)

After reading this board and the posts by the locals...I'm actually looking forward to moving back to Vegas. Just need to find a place where Yankee fans watch games, and I'll be set!

Cheers!

BTW. Glenmorangie for me.
