Am wondering if there are any grocery stores near the Las Vegas Hilton.

Thanks,

There is also a Korean grocery store in Commercial Center on Sahara, but it's only a couple blocks closer than the Smith's and Albertsons.

We have some of the best urban planners in the country here. They build all these new high rises (near Las Vegas Hilton) as well as downtown, coaxing people to enjoy a new urban lifestyle, but the thought of putting in a major grocery store nearby eludes them. You still need a car to go to the grocery store. So much for urban living!

There's a 7/11 on DI/Joe Brown.

I admit I wonder about the planning commission some times, but they don't have anything to do with where somebody like Albertson's wants to put a store.

There's a CVS at Sky Tower and a Walgreens at LV Blvd and Convention Center, both of which have at least some food. Otherwise, I usually drive down to Town Square (Whole Foods) or all the way out to Summerlin for grocery shopping. Country Club residents tend to patronize the stores at the ghetto-looking strip malls over on South Maryland...but I don't.

I don't expect to see any major stores appear near Las Vegas Hilton in the immediate future - land is still too expensive for retail and even though there are a lot of new condos nearby and seemingly plenty of convention-goers to sell to, many of the residents are part-time weekenders who never cook, anyway. Sucks for the rest of us, but that's life in the big city.

It's no different elsewhere in the country, building high-rise condo's downtown, advertising the great urban lifestyle. I bought a condo in downtown Minneapolis in the late 80's, and I still had to own a car to drive 2-3 miles to a grocery store. And, from what I've learned since moving, there's still no grocery store dowtown, save convenience stoes. It won't be any different here in Las Vegas.

Right now, in a townhouse @DI/Pecos I have 5 grocery stores within 6 blocks of my house. Now that's urban lifestyle!
