Compare the four; Bellagio, Caesars, Venetian and Wynn was asked.
Bellagio: very gaudy rooms. Color schemes of ruby red, turquoise blue, indigo blue, etc. Pools are important to me and I hated Bellagio's. Very ostentatious, not a bit of fun. Marbles statutes on the sides of the pool spouting water out of the goddess's you know what's.
Caesar's, had a standard room and not impressed. Casino is very dark and pool is nothing to write home about. Venetian probably would rate the highest considering I have never stayed at the Wynn. My daughter has though and always returns to the Venetian now for meals but once they discovered Red Rock, they say Red Rock wins hands down for price, quality, rooms, pools and amentities. NY/NY has nice rooms, very contemporary, but it is laid out crazy and one has to take an elevator to another elevator before arriving at the pool, which is nothing to write home about. Rio, otoh, has a beautiful pool. Paris has small rooms, the brick flooring in the casino can wear on one quickly and the pool is on the rooftop one. If I had to eat hotel/casino food, the only ones I would eat in are Paris, Bellagio, Venetian and Wynn.

Doesn't Mandalay Bay have the best pool? The Trop and Flamingo have great pools but I guess they're too old and run down? The Rio is off the Strip a little ways but they have great views, good rates, and don't they have three pools with sandy beaches?

It's funny to hear people talk about our older hotels as being run down. Our "run down" hotels are nicer than the good hotels in most places.

I agree with you Buzz.....I stayed at a hotel in SF a few yrs ago....we booked because it was a "FULLY RENOVATED" victorian hotel..... in San Francisco speak that means "we cleaned the carpets right after the first earthquake"

The very best of hotels in LV are not to be found on any list of "best" hotels worldwide. Apparently, the rest of the world does, in fact, view our "run down", "knock-off" hotels as less than "world-class". http://www.travelandleisure.com/worl...cfm?cat=hotels

I have my suspicions about those lists, but the reason we don't really have five star hotels doesn't have anything to do with the facilities. Apparently we Las Vegans are too low class to know how to treat guests in a five star resort. It's the available work force, not the building. Las Vegas hotel workers ain't got no class.

I doubt very much that the hotels on this top 100 list are of the LV style, of "tripod" design with with extorior styrofoam facades. LV hotels lack substance in both design and construction, and are simply built to serve a high volume, low aesthetic seeking clientele.

i disagree, i think Caesars has a nice pool area, so does the Flamingo, and many people forget that the Monte Carlo's pool is really nice too...the MGM has a nice pool complex also...

we really liked the hotel rooms at Caesars and Paris, but never saw the ones at Bellagio or Venetian

airfare is higher which is why occupancy is lower and hotel prices are more reasonable.....NO ONE can second guess why the airlines do anything....

They have the cheapest flights if you arrive in LV on a Saturday.....
VERY few hotels will accept Saturdy arrivals.....
nomatter whatcha do you loose
