There are lots of online websites that would give you ideas of nice places, coupons, deals etc. Just do a google for Las Vegas. I stayed at the Stratosphere....good place, neat roller coasters, pool etc. decent price. I have also heard good things about Mandalay Bay, beach type pool area. MGM Grand is awesome. Plenty to choose from as far as decent hotels. New York New York, like the city it is named after, lots to do besides gambling....It sort of depends what type atmosphere you are looking for. Have fun!!

Careful in November, Ray. The SEMA show is in town that month and all the hotels jack up the rates. Try to book before or after that convention. Bill's Gamblin' Hall is considered by many to be a best value on the strip. Cheap rates, great location.

I like the NYNY and Mandalay Bay the best. I've heard the Cosmopolitan is fabulous, but I have not been there yet.

Not going to be under $100 for 2 nights... Try Palace Station, Imperial Palace, and Circus Circus.... all dumps in my opinion but you get what you pay for...

You MIGHT get Monte Carlo or Ballys which are a step up if its during the week.

There are all kinds of great hotel deals here even at the four star hotels. What you might tell us is what you expect to do. Are you here for a convention or trade show, or just a vacation? Are there any particular shows you want to see? Do you gamble? Will you be renting a car? Do you want to see the sights off Strip, or just hang out in the casinos? Location might be more important than anything, especially if you plan to walk a lot.

Actually the most important thing to ask is if he's going midweek or on a weekend. That can make all the difference in the world as to what quality/location he can afford. (along with if he's planning on being here during the convention)

Remember to check out the resort fees before booking. A cheap room may not be a good deal once you add the resort fee to the room. Las Vegas Resort Fees: The 2012 Guide || VegasChatter

My favorite cheap hotel with nice rooms and centrally located is the Tropicana.

When in November are you going? The best time for the lowest prices are going to be the week of and the week after Thanksgiving. The most expensive time is the first week of November. The week of Thanksgiving you can even stay at Paris Las Vegas for $56 a night during the week (the week before it's $220). In fact looking right now, all Caesars hotels (except Caesars Palace) are less than $100 a night for the week of Thanksgiving and the week after. Now weekends are a different story. Weekends you are limited pretty much to Harrahs or the Imperial Palace. You can also get all the MGM resorts except Bellagio and the CityCenter resorts for under $100 for those last 2 weeks of November. Again, that's all during the week. Friday and Saturday almost everything but the crummiest hotels along the strip will be over $100.
