Do teachers in Clark County make too much? The entry level compensation package is worth $49,607/yr, or, $37.53/hr, as defined by CCSD: Licensed Employee Salary Schedule (2004-2005) (http://ccsd.net/jobs/LLPsalary.htm - broken link) Please tell me what other entry level job in LV pays $37.53/hr.

We all know teachers are grossly overpaid. But so are the rest of the featherbedding government employees.

But they still continue to complain and threaten to quit and join ranks of the private sector. Let them.

Clark County employees make 28 freeking percent higher salaries then public sector. Not to mention bennies to die for.

Bunch of overpaid Turkeys.

So when the text messaging king is looking for places to cut fat he must have blinders on.

3% across the board in school spending. Nevada is already has the lowest per pupil spending in the country. At this rate the kids can get a better education in Iraq in a couple years.

Gibbons can always teach night classes on how to do 150 text messages per day on an 8 hour shift on tax payers dollar. I never did nor never will do a text msg. What do they cost like 25 cents each? Times several thousand? And all the 30 minute phone calls talking dirty to that woman?

AND HE IS SOOOOO UGLY !! I guess money attracts, not looks

That shows $35k a year.....Where are you getting $40 an hour or whatever it is?

About 50% of jobs have benefits, so $70k total comp is hardly obscene. Many entry level jobs (college educated) with good benefits would be in that range. Granted, they are teaching 9 months a year but at the same time it's not like they can go work some other decent paying job for 3 months.

It's actually 50k with benefits. For 9 months, I assume that's where you get your $70k annually. Again, not out of line with many other entry level professionally educated jobs.

Like I said, supply and demand. Would you rather your blackjack dealers teach your kids, or you teachers dealing blackjack?

NV is not the lowest per/pupil--------but how many Nv jobs require ANY education? Look, Nv is not pumping out Md's, rocket scientists, but rather, service industry workers. ReviewJournal.com - News - Nevada still near bottom in per pupil spending
