Yes, to this please. And take your horrible drivers that have love for traffic as well.

Well, a lot of people would prefer to live near a beach vs the desert. So not surprising LOL

The Southern California basin is where one finds the worst smog in the country. California has become a state for the very rich and the very poor and, lucky you, you live in one of the most expensive cities in California. So stay in your exclusive commune beside the Pacific ocean as long as you can. Some summer day you will need to travel inland as far as, say, Santa Ana, and there you will see how wretchedly unhealthy California is for 90% of Californians.

Why did you bother to post this here other than to troll? I'm sure for the people in Vegas the feeling is mutual. Bye!

I've lived in Oxnard for 10 years and amazingly I see the rents are the same as NYC and there is nothing to do here. No museums or culture, (unless mexico is your thing) lousy transportation, no air conditioning anywhere in the city, rents over 3k, traffic nightmare (people slamming on their brakes in front of you or drivers trying to exhibit their skills by driving 50 mph in the supermarket parking lot). What I can't figure out is why would someone move here to make a 2 hour commute when the rents across the street from your office are probably lower or at least the same and you have a choice of fine restaurants and a nightlife. When you rent an apartment here they will tell you that air conditioning is not required here because you'll get cool ocean breezes. You will ROAST in your apartment and I live on the beach! Truth is...the infrastructure can't handle it. There are brown outs that last for hours. The only place that delivers around here is Vons. Forget about ordering up chinese food or anything else for that matter. They won't deliver to this area. If your car breaks down, be prepared to pay $50.00 to go 10 blocks in a taxi or you can stand in front of your house and wait all day for Uber to show up.

I'm not a gambling man, but I will bet a 6 pack she is complaining about Newport in 6 months.

Good for you. Life is too short to live where you're not happy. Enjoy Commiefornia.

"Happy to be paying triple for my quality of life." That is it in a nutshell - many would not want that. What increase in Quality of life is worth 3x cost?

24 year ago we made the opposite decision. We lived in Los Alamitos with a 12 minute bike ride to the beach in Seal Beach. When we retired we decided to move out of the coastal plane. Primary reason was climate. The plane is too cool and overcast. Nice in the fall but that was about it.

We also knew Newport Beach very well. Belonged to a sailing club on the water. Sailed to Catalina more than monthly for a decade. Later bought a boat which we kept in Long Beach.

The plane is vastly over rated. Now Avalon in Catalina is nice...but unfortunately not practical.

And forget about the leftist nonsense. Los Alamitos was conservative and still is. Has a significant Hispanic population but the vast majority are upper middle class Caucasians. It is also very well run.

She's getting what she's paying for. The flip side is she has to pay for what she's getting. If she has the money that's fine. But CA is turning the screw, and will continue to do so.

If I could afford it, I'd move there too. Anything nice and by the beach will always beat Las Vegas, but for cost of living and what you get, even though it's getting more expensive, it's hard to beat Las Vegas.
