You can't have it both ways. If you want to be in the middle of the valley, with everyone else, you'll have to deal with buildings blocking your view of the mountains. If you want unobstructed views, move out to the styx.

I love shopping/dining and commercial development, but this is becoming a bad idea due to the interrupted landscape.

Not the response I was expecting, but a fun video none the less.

I couldn't resist, since the previous poster said "If you want unobstructed views, move out to the styx."

That was me, and I think its the proper use of the term (originally coming from greek mythology, but mutated to mean in the middle of nowhere.)

Summerlin is not in the middle of the valley.

Like I said, I like neon lights and commercial development. It just feels odd being right next to red rock.

I am not against this development, nor am I on the NIMBY bus.

In my former life, I was a civil engineer in large infrastructure projects.

A lot of commercial projects especially with surrounding residential areas go through light pollution studies as well as ordinances and every single light source measured/documented and go through final plan approval.

And I'm sure the threshold of what is acceptable levels of light pollution are much higher here in Vegas, even on the outskirts of town. Sorry dude, I like peace and quiet too but you make compromises so that you don't live in the sticks.

No state income tax. This results in many unintended consequences. Poor planning, lack of water infrastructure (so we dig up the roads again and again), over crowded schools.

You get what you pay for, and we prefer to pay as we go, letting the chips fall where they may.

You know what community has done improvements right, without killing the natural beauty? Sedona.
