Vegas never got much power from the Dam. Boulder City does though.

Neon is not a particularly efficient light source. Used only for its ability to provide color in a flexible way. Many of the rare gases will form lighting arcs but Xenon is about the best. You can make high efficiency light sources with Xenon and such but the power sources invovled are complex and expensive. There are also all sorts of interesting light sourches using mercury vapor and high pressure gasses.

Also LED's are being used more, The Fremont Street Experience for example.

Check the CC&Rs, they may vary.
Clauses like these are often illegal under state laws, and won't hold up in court if you press them.

"Philosophically, the HOA should encourage conservation. States like Nevada and Alaska do not allow restrictions of solar panels and other power generators."

That is nice. I am going to approach the HOA about this again. They told me no on a solar system. I wanted enough to power my AC in the summer and my pool in the winter. My last estimate was about 12k should do it. I am going to press this issue.

I am also going to push the satellite issue again. I didn't think it was right for them to say no on that one either. They cannot force me to have cox or go without.

Both are subject of specific statues. The aerial is federal. The solar is NRS. I don't know how clean they are however. I will send you the State statute on the morrow. The fed aerial one should be readily available...

I found it on the FCC's website. And it specifically mentions small dishes like DirecTV and the such. I approached our HOA president and he agreed that they cannot force us to not put them up. In fact, he said a few homes have satellite dishes. He just thinks they are ugly. So I will be calling DirecTV tonight.

Electric bills in Vegas are outrageous. It is a total screwjob, and the people of Vegas have done nothing to complain. They just take in the shorts and continue letting themselves get raped.

I just moved (thank god) and my last 2 electric bills in my 736sf apartment were $135 and $162. I was working for most of the day, and slept 6-8 hours a night. So I was up and moving inside for maybe 4-6 hours a day. Never set the t-stat over 63, and only ever had one lamp on.

It's a joke. Just ONE MORE way for Vegas to bleed it's people dry.

No wonder so many houses are in foreclosure there.

Something is wrong. 1000 sf homes in Sun City run around $100 less if frugal. I would suggest you check the meter with everything off. Try it again at night. Sometimes exterior lighting gets "accidentally" tied to apartment meters.

Does not compute.
