If a visitor with a gun and a carry permit from their home state comes to Vegas, can they bring their gun with them? Can they keep it in a hotel room? vehicle? carry open? carry concealed?

Oh geez, how about the quick easy answers? And I don't even live there...nor am I a "sheriff"

About carrying with out of state CCW - it depends on the state, check for reciprocity.

In the car? Yes.

Hotel? Yes.

Open carry in NV? Yes, I think. But wouldn't test that one out in Vegas.

In accordance with Senate Bill 237 passed by the 2007 Nevada Legislature the State of Nevada will recognize the following States' CCW permit holders:

Alaska

Nevada also allows for residents of other states to apply for Nevada concealed carry permits. It was an amendment to the concealed carry laws not too long ago.

Is the concealed carry permit hard to get? I see the process online, but only what you have to do, not how, long etc. I have no disqualfing events.

Not hard. You have to take the CCW course - here is a list of a few good ones:

INFO: Vegas Machine Gun Rentals, Guns & Gear Stores, FFL Transfers, CCW instructors

That's a sticky thread from ar15.com's (aka arfcom) NV Home Town Forum, a great place to find out NV (LV, up north, Henderson, etc.) info.

Here's the lvmpd site on CCWs: Nevada concealed firearms (http://www.lvmpd.com/permits/firearms_concealed.html - broken link).

I am a cop here, therefore I have one. A 13 year old with a lazy eye could get a CCW. It is stupid easy to get one here. Just pay your money and pass the background and hit a few targets and yer in.

Call American Shooters on Arville and they have the course for $80 I think. It takes about 2 hours. I would rather have educated gun carriers on my streets that what I normaly see. Just please be smart with it.

That is interesting that I can fly in and get a CCW permit as a non resident. Is this usual in most states? I notice that the Nevada permit is not accepted here in Georgia but the Utah permit is accepted here. So do you get both permits in Nevada or do you have to drive over to Utah to apply for their permits?
