But he is Licensed up and down the wazoo anyways, Fed licensing, etc.. He is a Federally Licensed Gun Dealer and Mfg. He makes guns, converts guns, and he started a small gun shop in Vegas not far from that new big shooting range they built.. I don't know what it is called or where, I have never been to Vegas. I'm in Boston.
His name wouldn't happen to be Guido by any chance? I believe I know the shop you are referring to.

Unfortunately, I'm in Corrupt, Right Violative Liberal Moonbat Boston, Mass. Too far from Vermont. The lower right hand corner of Vermont is probably......ummmm..... maybe ...... 2 hours away.
I've looked into living in both VT and AK. I looked into TX as well but it's not as wild west as they would have you think. For example open carry is illegal, in Texas of all places. I am pretty content with NV firearms laws at this point. I don't have to worry about CCW's as I can legally carry concealed in any state in the nation, including those that outlaw concealed carry such as WI and IL.

All of it. Ironically conservative icon Ronald Reagan signed the '86 machine gun ban by way of the Hughes amendment which did not even actually pass (how surprising that Charlie Rangel D-NY declared the amendment approved despite a clearly recorded vote showing otherwise). FOPA was actually good legislation as it addressed abuses and unconstitutional prosecutions by the ATF (now BATFE, just like any government agency it grows larger by the minute). The Huighes Amendment however has zero basis in Consititutionality. I was not a fan of GWB, but I do give him credit for allowing the AWB to sunset.

That said, there are certainly parts of NFA '34, GCA '68, and FOPA '86 that I do agree with. For the most part these are good pieces of legislation when interpreted and enforced correctly. Of course there are exceptions like the Hughes Amendment, the banning of mil-surp imports, etc.

Well, I won't be able to get a handgun until I become a Nevada resident or show 3 months of home ownership. I'm getting retired from the military so I won't be on "orders" per say. I went to the Clark County shooting range but they didn't have any handguns to try out but that facility is sweet. I went down to American Shooter and tried out the Glock subcompact 45 versions. I need to find a place that has subcompact Springfield Armory that will let me test fire for an hour or so.

BB guns and air guns are legally considered toys. However, if one of your neighbors calls the police and tells them that there is a person firing a gun then when they get there you will be treated as if you are firing a real gun until you prove yourself innocent. This is probably more risk than you are willing to take to get your grass growing. I would recommend that you get a garbage can and put some bird seed in the bottom of it then take an extension cord and strip the wires on the end that doesn't plug into the wall and put it in the garbage can so that the birds will touch both wires when they eat the seed and be electrocuted. Make sure you unplug the extension cord before you reach into the garbage can.

It's relatively rare to see this level of inept advice dispensed in a first post. I tip my hat.

It appears CCW is not safe in Las Vegas...

Gunned Down in Vegas: What Really Happened to Erik Scott?

An accomplished young man is killed by police outside a Vegas Costco, and bystander accounts starkly contrast with official reports.

Erik Scott was a West Point graduate, Army veteran, MBA graduate of Duke University, and a medical sales rep for Boston Scientific. He was gunned down by three Las Vegas police officers after they responded to a 911 call by Costco store employees reporting a man with a gun, possibly on narcotics, behaving erratically.

I've been following this story since it happened and I'm always struck at the wide disparity in the eye witness accounts of what happened - everything from he was acting erratically to he was completely non-confrontational. Really, I shouldn't be surprised because eyewitness testimony is frequently shown to be flawed. Whatever account is accurate, it sounds like a fine young man was cut down in the middle of his life.

I've been watching the telecast of the inquest and you are right. so many eyewitnesses, and no two accounts of what happened are exactly the same. Its a shame that the store video equipment was not working at that time. Irregardless of whether or not the police were justified in shooting Mr. Scott, I think the whole situation could have been handled in a way to avoid the ultimate confrontation of a life being taken. But, nevertheless, the inquest proceeding is somewhat fascinating to watch.
