But while we are having fun and enjoying ourselves, it is nice that casinos offer freebies in return.

I was only asking what casinos that I hadn't mentioned offered nice comps.

If you read the end of my original post, yes, I am aware gambling is not a way for a hobbyist to make money, but it's like someone who builds model trains, buys season tickets to a team, etc. It's our way of having fun, not making money. I am far too busy with my job and my side-company to even consider AP gaming as a revenue stream. But I like sitting for a couple hours at a Pai Gow or BlackJack table. It would bore me to death to sit in a sports book or on a VP machine.

And actually, now that I calculated it, monthly cash value of our comps is pretty close to that $1000 mark. It just comes from 15 different casinos LOL Plus, we haven't lost any money at tables or slots overall, so I will take that as a win

Sounds like us. We gave up on slots about two decades ago. Mrs. Tek is a Blackjack only player. I play some Holdem and am considering trying my hand at Pai Gow.

Any recommendations on a good BlackJack table? We're going to be there in November, and I am in the mood already.

I've gravitated to Silverton for BlackJack. I play double deck primarily and for the most part the players follow basic strategy and the dealers are friendly. When not at Silverton, I'm at GVR, as it's a mile from my house, and I've gotten to know the dealers pretty well and it's a fun group. Silverton normally has open seats at their $5 double deck tables, whereas GVR is usually a little busier, as they have fewer tables. Normally double deck is $10 at GVR, with the $5 table being single deck. But it depends on what day and what time of day.

I like that they have a microbrewery onsite (although beer snobs look down on it) and I love the hard lemonade which is a Summer thing.

I have a bunch of "beer is proof god loves us" t-shirts that I love even though I am a devote atheist.
I also have a red pig with the bbq parts outlined t-shirt and need to get me a black one next time.

Like I said, a super low roller. I have no idea what Raiderman's level of play would get.

Thanks. When we were in Las Vegas last year our first gambling evening was at GVR. It took us a week and a half before we got to a casino. I did very well there and we both liked it. $5 Double Deck, which is what we like as well. We were staying in SC Anthem so it was close. We also played at South Point and did well there. Came home ahead in the gambling department.

We'll get to Silverton this time given the opportunity.

Edit: Can't rep you yet.

I like Silverton and we generally do pretty good with the royal match side bet as well. We have over $800 in half dollars mostly from the 2.5:1 wins on that side bet. When we reach $1000 we will cash them in and open an Vanguard investment account for our newly arrived grandson. Will probably have it by the end of the year.

Not to be dense but is there a type of payoff in 50 cent coins? If the mermaid shows are still going a few years from now, you can take your grandson there! It made me smile seeing the wee ones getting attention from the mermaids the last time I was there.

Royal Match side bet on Silverton's BlackJack. If you are dealt 2 suited cards, it pays 2.5 to 1. A $1 bet will get you $2.50, hence the $.50 piece. Suited KQ gets 25:1, and if the dealer ALSO has a suited KQ, you get $1000. When I'm "slow-rollin'" at $5/bet, I have had pretty good success with a $2 side bet. Earns $5 and covers the bet. Still a house edge, obviously, but happens enough to keep me happy

The only time I've ever made multiple side bets was at the Horseshoe in Council Bluffs. I saw some guy bet it it few times and get paid so I asked about it and checked the payout card. Over the course of 30 minutes I made over $300, then gave back $50 before stopping.

It was like I couldn't miss for a while.

For the most part (or the all part), side bets are WAY lopsided for the house. But I play for fun, and that makes it more enjoyable for me. I'm a sucker

I DO like the 6-card bonus in 3-card poker.. walked away with about $400 the other night at the M on that side bet. But it's all luck and timing.
