I was amazed when we got cards in the mail giving us 12, yes 12, FREE buffets. We have players club cards there but we rarely go or spend any money at the Cannery so I was very surprised.

They must need the opportunity of having 12 possible times for that buffet to cost much, much more than free.

On an added note...I just returned from Harrah's junket (in AC) with my wife. They flew both of us down from Albany, NY to Atlantic City, and put us up in a beautiful room in their newest tower overlooking Absecon Bay towards Brigantine...all for free!

Now, this was our first time ever on a junket of any kind. What makes this strange is that my wife gambles $50 tops on each trip (and usually comes home with and additional $30). I, on the other hand, usually play penny and nickel machines (love those bonuses)...25-cent Video Poker...and $5 blackjack or craps (hard to find in AC...ususally $10 minimum bets). When I lose, I limit it to $1000. When I've left a winner, the most was with $1200. We go maybe 4 times per year.

The above is not your typical big-time bettors...yet they flew a whole planeful of us down there...free cocktails and all.

They must really be hurting when my wife and I qualify for a free junket.

No catch. None at all. Nothing required but the card they mail you and ID. No points or gambling necessary. Cost is ZERO, no tax, nothing.

Now I'm sure they are making plenty because people will gamble before or after the meal. But you don't HAVE to spend a cent.

I haven't gotten Cannery offers in a long time. I think if we don't go and play now and then, the offers quit coming.
Since most of the keno machines in most of the casino's quit paying out as well as before, we just no longer go and play.
