If you're going to be in the casinos, you'd better better off learning to play winning live poker, advantage play sports betting, perfect VP basic strategy (and how to find machines with 100%+ pay tables), table game advantage plays etc., then just flushing the money away in unbeatable house banked games, machine or live. Either that, or just don't gamble.
No, we're not getting our $1000 back in comps. But that is not really the point at all. I don't "play for comps", I play because I enjoy it, knowing full well that it can be an expensive hobby. That's why it's a hobby only played with disposable income. You didn't grasp my point. We are going to play to have fun and enjoy ourselves. But while we are having fun and enjoying ourselves, it is nice that casinos offer freebies in return.

I was only asking what casinos that I hadn't mentioned offered nice comps.

If you read the end of my original post, yes, I am aware gambling is not a way for a hobbyist to make money, but it's like someone who builds model trains, buys season tickets to a team, etc. It's our way of having fun, not making money. I am far too busy with my job and my side-company to even consider AP gaming as a revenue stream. But I like sitting for a couple hours at a Pai Gow or BlackJack table. It would bore me to death to sit in a sports book or on a VP machine.

And actually, now that I calculated it, monthly cash value of our comps is pretty close to that $1000 mark. It just comes from 15 different casinos LOL Plus, we haven't lost any money at tables or slots overall, so I will take that as a win

I don't know what South Point sends to machine players but they don't send anything to table game players it seems. Don't let that discourage you from playing there though. Ask the pit boss and ye shall receive. I have gotten some rather nice dining credits, movie tickets etc. No free or match bets but if you have been playing for a while and get hungry, don't be shy to ask for dinner.

I've noticed the lack of comps from South Point as well, but we don't really frequent the place. I think we've played there 2 or 3 times. I got a free buffet coupon, but you're right, no table comps. I haven't played many slots there, so that would explain it. I have done well at the tables. I think they need me to lose some before sending the "come back" specials

Note that a good part of Jean Scott's strategy is to play advantage or near advantage level strategy/pay tables, and then use the comp value to take her over 100%, where the play alone can't. However, I heard that the casinos have caught on to this, and turn down the comp rate on better paying machines.

I have a friend who gambles heavily at the Palms. In addition to the usual free play and meal comps, she gets the weirdest things. She got like 50 rolls of Bounty paper towels, cases of Tide detergent pods, a vacuum cleaner, etc. Strange, but the locals seem to dig it.

LOL.. I have noticed that from the palms.. They gave away a chamois mop last weekend... kind of odd. I will make the drive there on a Saturday if the gift is something I could use, and I usually have some match play coupons to use while I'm there.

I sense cross marketing / barter deals.

My house is 7 blocks from the Palms
If your picking up a promo, and want to meet up for lunch / Dinner at the Palms buffet drop me a note.
Maybe I will be able to drag NLVgal along as well

Jonathan

Possibly, but I ain't complainin'. I ended up with the vacuum cleaner, a kindle, and a very nice coffee maker.

Aliante is looking for gamblers these days, since they discontinued their relationship with Stations. I'm guessing there are some good comps to be had there, but it is quite a drive for those that don't live in the northwest.

I'm a super low roller at Ellis Island. I've been going there for years. I get free pizza and beer coupons twice a week and $5 FSP every 10 days plus an assortment of misc. food coupons. <cough> I pretty much just play my FSP but with consumate skill <cough> so no complaints.

I like that they have a microbrewery onsite (although beer snobs look down on it) and I love the hard lemonade which is a Summer thing.

I have a bunch of "beer is proof god loves us" t-shirts that I love even though I am a devote atheist.
I also have a red pig with the bbq parts outlined t-shirt and need to get me a black one next time.

Like I said, a super low roller. I have no idea what Raiderman's level of play would get.
