Is it getting that bad down there? And does the area really need THREE more liquor stores?

Joe Downtown: Fremont Street executives say downtown Las Vegas is getting out of control - VEGAS INC

Quote:
Downtown’s recent success as a nightlife hub is ratcheting up fears that the
area is becoming so awash in booze and underage
drinking that violence is growing, creating an expensive need for more
law enforcement.

City officials on Tuesday considered applications for three more liquor
stores that want to do business under the electric canopy of the Fremont Street
Experience. The liquor stores failed to win approval from the Planning
Commission. Commissioners' votes were tied, 3-3.

In overall stats, incidents appear to have increased. However, Criminologists spread incidents over per capita (visitor) numbers. Under this scientific scenario, the reason incidents have increased is simply because visitor numbers have increased. In other words, numbers are up but rates are not.

The main problem is the under-aged drinking. If the authorities can stop this then the over-all experience will improve. I haven't been down there in a while but I heard it's a mad house. It's a shame.

-Cheers.

The area will need 3 times as many cops for anything to change. On First Fridays probably 6 times as many.

I've noticed more drugs on Fremont myself. Lot more packed, but I understand why. Really cool stuff going on Fremont east. Guy tried to sell me cocaine in broad Fremont street light, even pulled it out of his pocket. I walked away so fast. Also have people walk by me asking if I want weed all the time. Ridiculous.

@Bps401

Clark County is getting out of hand, the type of people moving in here are some of the lowest low class trash!! Today on my way to work, as I stepped out of my door, I noticed my next door neighbor was smoking weed at his patio. My new upstairs neighbor was also smoking weed with him. Bunch of losers in town.

According to the actual news story a couple of weeks back, metro claims that this summer is the worst for Fremont and FF because of the amount of teens that are not attending some type of summer activity. No summer school, no summer camp or no summer job. So what else are these bored teens going to do?

And someone smoking weed on THEIR patio is no different than them drinking alcohol on the patio. Are you going to talk to them about it?

You think this is a Clark County problem? You can buy weed from vending machines at Venice Beach in CA.

Whatever you do stay away from Oregon and Washington.
