Some older relatives coming in for a visit. They are not gamblers but would like to see the strip and Fremont Street. I know it can get pretty crazy on Fremont Street at night. How is 7-ish on a Sunday evening? I'm hoping that might be a more sedate time to take them for a short walk.

That's an excellent time, IMO. Usually still a little crowded but far less so than 24 hours earlier. Getting around shouldn't be much of a problem.

If I'm not mistaken, it's a Doors lightshow now. Are your older relatives into Jim Morrison? Might want to skip the light show entirely.

I'm of the mind that Fremont is best on cool windy days, and rainy days (not that it happens often, but it's really interesting when it does.)

If I'm ever in the area with half an hour to spare, I always drop by the Fremont and the Golden Gate for two cocktails -- shrimp cocktail and a margarita.

I haven't been in awhile. Is the place still rife with timeshare trolls?

Ahhh, nothing like a good Hell's Angels rumble to get the pacemaker jumping.

On Friday the 16th my wife and I got to our hotel in Reno, and the parking lot was full. At the desk we found out there had been an awful crash at the air races, and the rest of the events had been canceled. So next morning they all left town.

On Friday the 23rd, on our way home, we stopped in the same hotel, and started to laugh when we saw the parking lot had about 500 motorcycles in it. Then we found out there had been a shooting and the rest of the events had been canceled, and next morning they all left town. The shooting had been at John Ascuaga's Nugget, and that's where I almost suggested we stop for dinner before going to the hotel, but we were tarred.

My question is ...is it us?

Maybe we shouldn't go to Art in The Park tomorrow.

Hey scooplv I don't know how old you are but people in their 70's do dig Jim Morrison. They were young once around the time of the Doors. The folks who are 60 to 70 were in their 20's and 30's then. The Doors touched more than one generation. Many of the Fremont light shows feature many artist from the 60's and 70's. SO!!! don't count out the older folks many Grandpa's played in rock bands and could still do so lol. Just think 30 years from now they will be doing light shows with Rap music and music from this generation. Jim Morrison will always be young like Elvis Hendrix Joplin and more they were our music stars when we were young. On the light side just think when us older Farts are in a nursing home we'll be bitching for them to turn up the music and play some Rolling Stones. Don't forget Tina Turner is still performing and she is 70. Best of all Fremont light show is FREE!!! Just my take on things !!!
