The weather station in 89129 where they are getting that information must be in an unusual location - maybe the far western edge, at high elevation.

The weather station I use is at Faith Lutheran High School, and it's reporting eight degrees warmer than the weather.com 89129 station right now (57F vs 49F). The default station used by Weatherbug for 89129 is reporting 55.5F.

I am a cold blooded person too. During all my trips out last winter I was in shorts playing golf. A little chilly in the early morning but delightful from 10am on. Al, perspective. If you live in Las Vegas it's friggin cold! If you are a snowbird like me and go out to visit your vacation home it is heaven.

No. It was a mild one. It was just more humid than usual.

In 2005 we had a solid week where the highs were 113 or better in most parts of town.

The averages are affected by the lows, and it hasn't been cooling off in the evenings the way it used to. Global warming? More concrete to trap heat? I dunno.

The "cold" of Las Vegas is all relative. It's where my wife and I go to warm up. All we need are light jackets during the Winter - a significant difference from freezing our butts off in Salt Lake City.

The warmth of Las Vegas during the Winter is one of the main reasons it's where our second home is.

When I looked up, one time, the coldest it ever got here in Las Vegas in winter, I believe I read 8 degrees for a low. Must have been in January. Let's pray the wind wasn't blowing that day!!!

I do remember, just a few years back, we hit a low of 20 at night. I work the nightshift, pop outdoors for a smoke break, a few times a night, with my other co-workers, and I remember those things!

It does drop below freezing on occasion, but not usually far below freezing and normally not for days at a time. Occasional snow, usually light and gone by noon.

Las Vegas winters remind me of Louisiana winters. If you are driving around shopping and heading to the mall, you carry a good jacket in your car in case you need it. If you are going for a hike or will be outside for a while, you may need to layer as the wind makes the temperature very uncomfortable.

We generally do a lot of hiking in S. Nevada on our January trips to Las Vegas and we generally carry a sweater and a mid-weight jacket.

They key is to have a jacket that is a good wind insulator. I usually wear a thick hooded sweatshirt and a nice thick windbreaker with a hoodie. Also pants that are made of the same material helps break the wind. This will be good enough for 30's with a good cold north wind.
