NOW....truly off topic.....since you post in here as a MODERATORas well as a FORUM member.....could you please make your moderators posts in RED.....sO I know if i'm allowed to disagree or not?
You're allowed to disagree with my regular posts. My moderator comments are in red, unless I'm having to moderate from my phone. In those cases, I try to go back and fix them later.

If you frequent dog forums you may well see the comment I made repeated when people say they are going to get another dog so their dog will have a friend. People's main reason for getting another dog should be that THEY want one. The sole reason should not be some perceived need of the dog for "company". That's all I'm saying. If you want more than one dog, and they get along great, then go for it.

I've never owned more than one dog at a time. Many of my dog loving friends have done the same, and when they have added a dog, it was because they wanted a second one, there was a need for rescue and they were willing to take on the second dog, etc. Not primarily so the first dog would have "company". Single dogs left alone in a house tend to spend most of their time sleeping. Video cameras prove it. Dogs tend to sleep a lot, even when there's more than one around. And, two dogs will sometimes get into mischief when left alone that a single dog will not. I know that they are by nature pack animals, but dogs have been living solo with humans for centuries. The companionship they want is ours. But, they sleep while they are waiting for us.

There are dogs that don't do well alone, but those are the exception rather than the rule. A second dog can help with those, sometimes not-- depends on the root of the problem. Again, anyone who wants more than one dog, and can afford more than one, there's no problem with that.

Back to topic.

That story made me smile. I hope Lupe feels better soon.

I agree but I wouldn't call them "little." The one that attacked my pup was the size of a bear cub. It weighed more than I could pull off of her easily!

No.
o
But I did say that you should not mess with my babies or I might be making a coon skin cap!

I literally kicked, and punched, and pulled on the fur of the raccoons before they let loose. Pretty amazing when you think about how I have no rabies shots myself. It never occurred to me at the time that I might be in danger. All I wanted to do was save my baby Lupe
