I am thinking of driving my car to California, but the car window is tinted (tinted color is pretty dark).
I heard it is illegal to have tinted glass in California.
Should I rent a car instead of driving my car?
Any advice is appreciated.

As long as your car is licensed/registered in NV, you should be okay.

Hell even though there is a law, you will find many many autos in Cali that have dark tinted windows......

I got pulled over by a CHP in California for my windows too dark. He said that it doesn't matter if I have NV plates since I'm in his jurisdiction. After a computer check of my license for any warrants he let me go with a warning. I think the chances of being pulled over for tint is rare but you never know.

chances are... you will not be pulled over in cali EVEN THOUGH you could be. just drive as normal as it is merely a fix it ticket at most.

FYI, you wont be pulled over.

A fixing ticket will be a pain in the *** to fix. You will have to remove the tint from the car (usually it is just the front 2 windows that are in violation). Then you will have to find an officer to sign the ticket and you will have to mail it in and pay the fine. Then re-tint the windows after all that.

Another stupid California reasoning. So they don't want tourists with tinted windows driving in their state?
Doesn't the state need zillions of cash? Writing a ticket will do the opposite. It will keep people out.

What if you have privacy glass from the factory.. That means you have to remove the windows????

I drive a car bought new in California. It has darkly tinted windows in the back. Windshield, driver's side and front passenger side are untinted.
Never been stopped in CA. Must be ok.
