Does this just sound like the rantings of a crotchety old man?

http://www.vegasrex.com/2010/08/10-w...-in-las-vegas/

Does anyone's experience living in LV mesh with this?

That post is about 2 years old. Vegasrex has not written anything about LV in 18 or more months as he moved to Seattle. It is exaggerated, but there are some truths in there.

I just don't understand people moving to the desert and then complaining non stop about the heat. Really? What did you expect?

And this?

"During the last several months living in Las Vegas, I became paranoid. I wrote a few negative articles about the Metropolitan Police Department, and I knew that I was probably on borrowed time. It’s not hard to match a blog post up with a specific incident report, and after my emergency room visit, I figured that the LVMPD had pegged me through license plates and utility bills. They were going to get either myself or my family, and it wasn’t a matter of “if”, it was a matter of “when"

Suuuuure.

lol, I agree. Paranoid for sure. I'm not worried about the weather coming from Tucson.

I actually read that article every few months for a good laugh. He was a great writer and it was sad to see him go. He had an interesting perspective on living here. It seems he lived near the LV Hilton (or w/e it is called now) or off Sahara east of the strip from reading some of his articles, which would probably give a different perspective on living here than living in the outlying areas like many of the posters here do.

How much of a caricature is the image he painted of health care in Vegas? He seems more than a little disappointed with the service he received.

In my opinion, this thread has the best unbiased information from LV locals: https://www.city-data.com/forum/las-v...las-vegas.html

As for medicine, we moved here to take care of my mother in law. She had one of the most complicated procedures I've ever heard of. The surgery was 14 hours long. She had the procedure done in Las Vegas, because that's where the surgeon who could do the job was located. And if there was a better option out there, she can afford it. We have some of the best doctors in the world right here -- if you have the insurance or the money to see them.

Health care isn't a problem, IF you have good health insurance. If you're trying to get by with Culinary Worker's Insurance, you're naturally going to hate the healthcare here. As mentioned in another thread, Las Vegas has plenty to offer, if you can afford it.
