I live in Miami now but I'm going to move to Las Vegas to live with my Boyfriend. I visited him sometimes, summer and winter. I really can't take the dryness there. I don't mind humidity, but dry... Especially, when I went there in winter... it was a hell. I got a cold when I got arrived there. Cold and dry... My skin, in my nose, in my mouth, and my throat got so dry and horrible. How can I live there feel enough moisture in the air, so I don't become mummy.. Please help!!!

She's saying she doesn't mind the heat and humidity in Florida, but she can't take the dryness in Las Vegas.

Las Vegas is not particularly dry in the winter time. Fiction. Daily range is between 50% and 25%. That is actually reasonable.

Now if you get inside and heat the place to 75F it may well get dry. But that is something you do to yourself.

Las Vegas does get dry in June...but that is a different question.

You do acclimate to it after awhile but you have to drink lots of water all the time, and use moisturizers. I lived there for 10 years and kind of liked it actually. Then, I moved to Hawaii! LOL Well, we went back a couple of years ago for a few days' visit. Got in kind of late, just went to the hotel. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking, "What IS this weird feeling......?" Got up, drank some water, put on a bunch of lotion! Thought, "Gee I never got up in the night when I lived here!" But I never was far away from chapstick, lotion and a bottle of something to drink.

Right now, it's very dry ...relative humidity this afternoon was below 20%. Right now, the NWS is reporting about 45 degrees and 14% relative humidity. So it's been cold and dry. It is going to be around freezing tonight and outlying areas will be in the twenties.

The back of my hands are all shriveled up and I've been using lotion all day. That, and lip balm.

Just not being bothered my mosquitos is enough for me!

I love the heat of the desert...no sweat under the arms.

Generally speaking, most people prefer the desert heat to humid heat. Not everyone, but generally.

Yes, you can use humidifiers, especially in your room at night.
