Thanks for the offer O.C. I plan on being out there on the 13th for a couple weeks. If I can't find anything obvious, I'll PM you.

as far as I know, there is no alternative way for consumers to independently check what their actual kwh usage is. we must trust the good people at NVenergy to be honest about it.
Well, after a bunch of research, I have discovered a way for you to monitor your house power usage ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

Google PowerMeter - Save Energy. Save Money. Make a Difference.

I also bought the Current Cost power monitor
Current Cost - Reducing your energy bills so you can live a greener life (http://www.currentcost.com/powermeter/ - broken link)

It uses WiFi to communicate with both Google, and its own readout that sits on a counter top of your house.

As I use it I will post updates and thoughts

Jonathan

Default Google PowerMeter

Google PowerMeter Overview

Does anyone here use this? This was brought up in another thread about NVenergy installing smartmeters.

If so, which product do you use and do you find it useful?

I don't think that those kill-a-watt units that you can plug in around the house are as intuitive as simply reading your meter usage realtime and being able to track down power hungry appliances.

TThis is intresting. It looks like the smart meters are corrupt as the utility companies.

Big Brother is watching!

What they should do is place climate control systems on peoples homes who get government (We the People) subsidies.

Smartmeter Complaints - Extremely High Electricity Bill

I've been harping this for a long time now but some here seem to think that NVenergy has a right to make money.. I dont dispute that, just that they dont have the right to gouge their customers and try to make it sound like its good for them. there is a new head of the utilities now..we shall see if it makes a difference. whats that WHO song that says.. "meet the new boss...same as the old boss" !
