This is an issue for many visitors to Las Vegas and the reason why Harrahs is promoting their "No Resort Fee" policy.
I am glad that someone else brought up the resort fees. People want "truth in advertising" in their travel planning. To book a room at a decent rate and then to find out that you are going to be clobbered for another $25/day is enough to drive business away.

This was after going up to the bar to get myself a beer because the service was so unbelievably slow.

Bartender: That will be 7 dollars

Me: I'm playing at that table over there, she's watching my chips.

Bartender: That will be 7 dollars, please

Me: Would you like to brand my ass with the company logo, while you're at it?

The 8 billion dollar City Center, which I love, is now worth 2 billion on the street I heard in a newscast today. This is why I just don't play. The casinos can't afford to offer value because of their debt structure.

Spot on post. On our return from Anaheim Sunday, traffic was jammed from the Primm exit all the way back to Jean. Granted this is mainly because it goes from 3 lanes to 2 at the Primm exit, but there were tons of cars leaving town to go back to California.

I just took my brother and his wife downtown to show them the shark tank at GN and it was pretty packed at the experience. People are still coming but they just don't have the discretionary income now to spend on souvenirs, are more selective in going to shows, etc.

I've been there 4 times this year and it certainly was busy every time except one time in early Feb(weekdays). I'm glad to see the correction occuring as Vegas had gone way to upscale and corporate over the past few years. Hopefully it will hit a nice middle ground were you can have the best of both worlds. There also needs to be some variety in the major shows. While I enjoy Cirque, some variety needs to be reintroduced. Also, utter crap crap like Believe should never see the light of day.

As far as terrorists go. Al Quaeda is too scared to send suicide bombers to Vegas. Once they see what they're missing, they'll drop Al Quaeda like a bad habit

I was down on Fremont street all day and into the night and it was jammed with people. Inside and outside all the casino's. Not necessarily on the machines though.
Signing up for cards used to come with free slot play, freebies and other fun things. Most casino's on Fremont street as well as the Strip all want you to earn points first now. Some give you free slot pay, but it's the little divey places. Which aren't too bad since their machines actually pay out.

I wish they could go back to pre-corporate days. Lure the people back in with regular freebies, free slot play, even if it's just $5 or $10. Make them "feel" like they are getting something back, rather than never getting anything.
The cards like at some places, Stations casinos for example, I think you have to have a million points to get $1? Wouldn't you have lost a million bucks to get that? See the greed? lol

I agree with what you're saying, but the "Resort Fee" issue isn't limited to Las Vegas. Almost every resort type hotel (and many that aren't) in any reasonably popular destination is tacking this type of fee on nowadays.

Yep it's all over. You know what I don't like when I go on vacation? Having to pay for parking, at least the majority of properties here don't charge for that.

The rumblings are tho that the Las Vegas hotels are starting to rethink the "resort Fee" scam....We have NEVER had one altho we do charge for parking [$3.00 per day for hotel guests] but even then there are ways around that.

Al Quaeda sent the 9/11 suicide bombers to Las Vegas prior to the attacks in NYC. To "scout" a potential target? Or were the news reports correct in the reporting that the terrorists stayed here in a cheap motel and "indulged" in the ways of Sin City before meeting Allah and becoming martyrs for their own cause.
