When you say "East Mesa" are you talking about
Thomas Moran & Charles Russell less than a mile East of I-10
and just over a mile SE of Jct. I-10/I-25?
< or >
Stuff way out on Rt 70?
Other than in the vicinity of the Sonoma Ranch Golf Club,
there doesn't appear to be any development much more
than a mile off of I-25.
To the untrained eye (mine) it looks like 6-7 miles of undeveloped
mesa just like Albuquerque circa 1950 or Belen at present
( but Belen is more like 8-10 miles of mesa ).

The area I was referring to is Highway 70, north and east of Onate High School. Manufactured homes or houses built on 1/2 acre lots, unpaved roads, no sidewalks, septic tanks, etc. There are lots of them out there.
There's some stuff north of University/Dripping Springs road and East of Telshor/I-25 that's a decent area. It's pretty close to university, shopping but is a quiter area.
The neighborhoods off east university (the roads name might change when you go too far) , behind A mountain are close to the organs (thus great views) and upscale.
As T-Race320 noted, the area on the southeast Mesa (past the Farm & Ranch Museum) has some beautiful homes with amazing views of both the mountains and the valley (sunsets!). I would also look on the (far) west side of town. There are some gorgeous properties there as well and many have unobstructed views of the mountains. More acreage too.
I second Tecpatl's recommendation to contact someone at Steinborn Realty - the wonderful folks there found me exactly what I was looking for.
I am moving to Las Cruces. I really love the homes in Organ Mesa Ranch and Tierra Escondida. I want a newer home that has a nice view of the Organ Mountains. I can afford to buy an 800K home, but it seems the market in that price range is very dead. I have no problem considering a home in a lower price range, but I want to have a great view of the mountains and be in a neighborhood that is safe and nice. Any suggestions? What price range would you recommend I look into as a good long term investment?
If it's to be partly an investment, then I'd go lower because you're not going to quickly sell a house for that much, there would not be enough buyers.
Hi I currently live in northern Michigan (originally from El Paso). My husband may be transferred (Customs) to Las Cruces. He wants to live somewhere inbetween Las Cruces and EP (he may have to work in EP as well). Currently what area would be ideal for us in this situation? Your help is greatly appreciated.
