Default Moving Weekend

Finally, moving day has arrived.

You can see by my join date that this has been nearly a year long process. Feels like 5.

Farewells have been said and it is time to leave the sandbar known as Florida.

Most of the packing is done. Picking up the truck at 10 am. Scattered showers are forcast so loading could experience some delays.

We are planning to lay over somewhere in south Georgia and should arrive in Knoxville some time Saturday afternoon and then procede to unload the truck.

Sunday will be for unpacking and setting up house.

Monday will be for running errands, getting supplies and waiting for Comcast to arrive.

Hopefully Tuesday will be a day to rest my weary bones.

(cue music)
It will be good, after long last, to call Knoxville home.

(record scratch)
Oh.... then I have to turn around and be in Marietta, Ga for three weeks training

Nice post, Robert.

Welcome home to Tennessee and the awesomeness that is Knoxville. I feel confident that you will love it here!

I plan on being around for the grand opening at some point. If you need anything between now and then, let me know! I work just north of Turkey Creek. Any questions, don't hesitate!

Default Liberal cities near Knoxville and some chit chatty

Anyways, so yes, my relatives are not supportive of me "living in the inner city" and letting my child "go to school with many blacks".

I am amazed by their ignorance, racism and close mindedness, and they are amazed that I would even consider moving there.

and YES, it is very important for me to live in a diverse neighborhood (which are usually the more liberal neighborhoods). I know I could survive in Farragut just fine, but my mind has matured, my thoughts are more open minded and not only would we (my daughter and I) thrive in a more liberal neighborhood, she would be better influenced, in my opinion.

I understand that many many people do not even know this "segregation of mindset" exist. I was looking at houses in north knoxville with my realtor in her 50's with purple hair who also lived in North Knoxville. I mentioned "liberal area" thinking she would know exactly what I was talking about, she did not.

Like I have mentioned before, I wish I was politically ignorant. (by ignorant I mean not know much about the subject, not stupid), but I am not so therefore if I have any control of what type of neighborhood I live in (which I do), I will do my best to make that part of my life work for me.
