>Wikepedia also shows the same church with this "meeting house" in Independence. I dont have a clue where it is.

This would be 919 S. Delaware (cross street of W. South Ave.).

Amazing. I thought it looked somewhat familiar. I was last in that area three years or so ago ( I live in Colorado).

Do you have some cats? The first thing I thought of when I first saw your name was that commercial of a few years back in which several cowboys on horseback are rounding up zillions of cats running them through sagebrush, crossing rivers, etc.

Yes, a couple. I had been fostering feral kittens for Great Plains SPCA's Independence campus and recently adopted one of them (that's what they call a "foster fail"). I think I need to find another way to volunteer for them so that I don't end up as one of those crazy cat ladies with 55 cats.

Am envious of your living in Colorado, much as I like Missouri.

Actually I wasn't even there that day!

Do any of you remember the little shop on the SW corner of old Noland and Truman?

Not right off hand without knowing the name of it. I was also trying to figure out the brick building in the background of that photo. At first I thought it was the St Paul church but that building does not match. The other three corners I could tell you what was there at one time or another with about 99% certainty.

Perhaps this will jog your memory...

In 72 I was in Thailand and had not been in Independence for around six years.

I vaguely remember something about books and stamps but I am just not recalling. I am confident I never went in there. That is the junkyard in the background, though.
