While we are at it, what would be the longest street in Independence?

No signs mark its existence, unless you know someone that used to live on it you would never find it. You can't know someone living there now, because the only house on this street was razed some years ago. If you are generous with the tape measure it would be 60 feet long.

Bing Maps doesn't know it exists, but Google does.
My 1988 Polk's does have a listing for it. Where is this rather shy street hiding, and what is its name?

P.S. Editing to add this clarification: This is what I believe to be the shortest street as built. However, as platted it is several hundred feet long. The rest of the street was never built, and probably never will be.
To help you out I present the plat map showing this very short street. The only portion "built" is the tip of the cul-de-sac for the intersecting street. The N-S portion was never built, and none of the lots on that portion were developed. I know that at least one of our occasional visitors to this thread is familiar with this street.

Couldn't be Independence Ave or 23rd Street since those names going east become something else before hitting the east city limits.

Under that scenario Truman Road would be the undisputed champ. In my opinion the honor goes to US 24 Highway. Although portions of it carry other names, US 24 is the primary name throughout. In my PD days we always used 24 Highway when referring to any intersection along the entire route. There are portions where individual addresses used the alternate names.

At one time many years ago I recall seeing something (probably the Examiner) that Independence had 550 miles of roads to maintain, the majority of which were chip and seal.

That figure has to be much larger today and I doubt if any chip and seal streets remain.

1200 lane miles, 38 bridges. Not as much as I thought.

I'll wait until later today to give the answer. I'm hoping the occasional poster will drop in and recognize this street.
