I'm going to guess US Highway 24, sometime in the 1920s or 1930s, after being improved by the "Get Missouri Out of the Mud" road-building campaign.

But I'd be hard pressed to identify the stream being crossed.

Sorry, that is not correct. Please try again!

Noland Road south of U.S. 40 near where the nursery is.

Close enough! Just a bit south of there, at Noland Road & Little Blue Road (north junction). The house is still there, but no longer visible from that location due to tree growth.

It was a bit of a stretch to include it in an Independence thread, but I'll defend that choice with this fact- that very photo is from the 1941 William Chrisman HS Gleam.

This one is also from The Gleam and may be a tad bit tougher.

Noland was just two-lanes when this photo was taken about 1941, so I'll rule it out.

That is also my guess. The location is not identified on the photo. Notice that the plant growth in the median is relatively new. That median would have been the streetcar tracks less than ten years earlier.
