It is true - there were mulitple "security" issues happening at the same time - all unrelated but the bomb threat was the icing on the cake. It did cause the airport to shut down - but not for two days! The airport was evacuated around 6pmish and was reopened shortly after 11pm that same night. They even had some flight arrivals after it was reopened. I admire how well all the agencies (from TSA to JAAPD to airport staff) worked together to put the safety of passengers first. It is sad that it has to be this way in today's world, but if someone mentions they have a bomb, then it has to be treated accordingly. While it is an inconvenience, it is nice to know that security actually does work. Better to be safe than blow it off and have it blow up!

Great now all JIA needs is international flights.

Puerto Rico is not international! Occasionally they have charter flights to the Bahamas - they have a complete custom and immigration facility below the "C" concourse. They sometimes are utilized if there are International Diversions that have to land in JAX. I don't see real international travel happening out of JIA do to the Hub and Spoke system of the major airlines - it would not be profititable for them to operate true international flights out of such a small market.

The fact we have those facilities is why it's an "international airport." Nothing to do with actually having international flights. But yes, as mentioned, there is regular service to the Bahamas now on Silver Airways.

I don't know why we keep making these convoluted arguments to justify JIA as an international airport. However you slice it the name is a misnomer. A real international airport does have international flights. JIA is not a real international airport, period!

couldn't care less. It is by far the easiest airport I have to navigate for work.

You sound angry over this. Yes I agree I've long considered it a misnomer as well, but it doesn't change the fact that the airport does have those facilities. In any case, JIA now has regular international service so I guess your blood pressure can drop down to a reasonable level.

It is not my BP that you should worry about but rather your silly insistence, for whatever reason, on framing JIA as a true international airport when it is not. It is clear that Jax is considered too limited a market. I fly to Europe and parts of the Caribbean quite often so I do know the inconvenience of making connections in e.g. CLT and MIA whereas I wouldn't if I lived near a true international airport.

That aside, my blood pressure is quite normal, but thank you for your concern.
