Can anyone recommend nice over 55 or senior communities in the Jacksonville area that are within a 30-40 minute drive to the airport and are safe? Where should I start looking?

on the southside there is Sweetwater a dell community that is 55+
friends of ours just built a home there when we went to see it I was so impressed by the recreation center I asked if they every made exemptions for under 55
they have houses, carriage homes and condos
I live about 2 mins from there and can make it to the airport in 30 mins or less

Hey Karla,
Just saw that you replied to alot of requests about Sweetwater. We are thinking of moving there. How do you know so much about it? Are you a real estate agent or just knowlegeable about the development? We are recently retired and 55 but are active golf, tennis , beach and outdoor people. We don't want to move in a neighborhood where everyone is still working, yet we want to have fun with people that have already raised their kids and have moved onto the next stage of their life. However, we don't want to move to a community where the people are all ancient. What is your take on Sweetwater?

No I am not a R/E agent
We have friends that live there so we have been there many times.
Our friends are constantly telling us about all of the activities that they do.
The recreation center "Summerland Hall" is amazing. I joke that the way it is decorated I could live there.
There are things like wine tastings, gatherings to watch our football team, day trips to different places, I know there is some sort of golf thing. This is just a small list of things our friends have spoken about.

If you have any specific questions send me a DM and I can ask our friends.

Thanks for your info. it was very helpful !! This was the first time I was on this forum and it's helpful to get info. from other than real estate agents. We are moving to Sweetwater from Hilton Head Island. Reluctant to leave HHI but the house prices have gotten way to high for what you are getting here. We loved Sweetwater at first site and was hoping that all was good. You reconfirmed that. Thanks again !

your welcome

I really loved the little glass tiles that they used in the ladies room
lol I told my hubby wouldn't they look good as a backsplash
I got the famous "uh oh another project" eye roll.
Which model are you moving into?

We are building the magnolia. I didn't get to see the glass tiles yet. We kind of went thru real quick and determined we loved the location right away along with the amenities.

Have you tried Cecil Pines located on Cecil Field? It is a gated rental community for seniors. 30 minutes to JAX airport.
