I then noticed that the woman was wearing a santa hat, smoking a cigarette (in fact it was hanging out of her mouth), and appeared to be yelling at the man (possibly her husband)! It was picturesque seeing the smoking middle aged woman yelling at her husband while quasi dressed as Santa. This scene brought me warm feelings for my first Jacksonville Christmas!

Yes my friends Merry Christmas from Jacksonville.....Merry Christmas!!
That was me! Why didn't you say Hello?!

As for the old man, well he never listens, so sometimes I get cranky.....

How about Eid? Tried to get some Eid stamps at the post office and the woman at the counter (the one who is so rude and used to wear the I love Jesus lanyard) said that she didn't have any. I only asked for them to get her goat.... I was feeling bad about doing it the minute the words left my mouth and so didn't ask her to check to see if her fellow postal workers had any. Hard to believe that they had a run on Eid stamps here in Jax...

Smile love this thread

Hahah...I moved to Jax on 12/1, and am loving the holiday season here in NEFL!
I see the santas near the beach waving at passing traffic when it's 80 degrees outside, and so many folks have walked the riverwalk outside my office wearing santa hats at lunch that it's almost commonplace.

My favorite was the commute home earlier this week. I pull up at a stoplight on Atlantic and look to my left. I see a car with a woman driving and two teenage girls with santa hats in the back seat who appear to be singing. I turn down the music and roll down the window----They're caroling the other commuters with holiday songs!!!!
The light turns green, they wave and drive off...but only to the next stoplight, where their show starts again.

Welcome to Jacksonville, JB77.

My neighborhood got together for a party in the park and we sang caroles.

May I take a minute for a PSA? If anyone is unaffiliated with a church and wants to take part in a Christmas Eve service, DM me. I would love, love, love it for some Jax CDers to be a part of the one at my church!

11pm, be there or be square!

I think I need to make a trip to your "best bud" and ask for the same stamps I can say "my friend said you had them"

Merry Christmas!
Feliz Navidad!
Buon Natale!

Representative of the three cultures I will be taking with me when I move to Jax in the spring. My culture travels with me, I just add to it from the new places I visit/live. I'm sure NE FL will allow me to add a few more items to my cultural baggage.
