The video did look very old so that very well could be the case. I cannot imagine that set-up lasted very long, lol. All in all a community gym is a "like to have" vs. a "must have." I would have no problems driving to a gym within 15 mins or so and paying a monthly fee assuming it has everything. I know there is a World Gym in St. Augustine and they are always equipped with all the meat-head stuff that I love.

We have a large lot at 19,000sf but it is likely a drawback to our sale because of the water restrictions and costs. (We pay $250/month from May-Sep for lawn watering!! Then in the colder months our water bill is still $100 a month!) Anyway - I guess it evens out....
I assume Palencia is St. Johns County Utility Department. It has tiered water pricing (the price per gallon increases as your usage increases). Our lot is somewhat more than 3/4 acre - and we have about 1/2 acre under irrigation. Water bills run from about $75/month in the winter to $170/month or so in the summer. Note that we are a family of 2 adults (less laundry and similar than a larger family).

One question for you folks that have been there a year or more....We are looking at 3,000-3,500sf. Someone told us that our electric in such a house will run about $600 a month in the summer - that seemed nuts! Is that accurate on a new/newer home? (that balances our crazy Denver water bills! LOL)
We have about 2900 SF under A/C - house built in 1996. Electricity runs about $400-500/month in mid-summer (we keep the A/C at 76 in the summer). Spring/fall/winter we're talking about $300-350/month (can run higher in winter if it's a really cold winter - we keep the heat at 71). That's with Beaches Energy Services (which probably isn't the electric company in Palencia). I'd probably budget for $600 and be happy if I paid less. Robyn

FWIW - a lot of the Y's in this area are terrific in terms of gyms and similar. We use the Winston Y in PVB. The closest to JCP is probably the Williams Y. There's also a JCC in the Mandarin area. Robyn

What my husband has ended up doing is joining a Planet Fitness close to his office ($10/month) and uses it during the week when he is at work and only using the community gym on the weekends or if he couldn't make it to PF during the day. It's worked out really well for him.
