We are considering making an offer on a house in Palencia. One thing we cannot seem to verify is what kind of fencing is allowed in the backyard. We are afraid it is only wrought iron and are concerned about our cat getting out. Also coming from New England we are also afraid of snakes getting in!
Can someone tell us if that vinyl fence that looks like wood only better is allowed there.

Palencia has many rules and you need to get there hoa rules
  • Go to the Clerk of Courts website at http://www.clk.co.st-johns.fl.us/
  • Place your pointer over RECORDING and click online records search
  • For this example I’m going to try and find the docs for Royal St. Augustine. So I type in Royal St Augustine in the “Name” box, and then next to the “Document” box I click the gray box, and then scroll down and check the items between (85) and (91), most of which have to do with Covenants and Restrictions (the fancy name for HOA docs).
Be careful as there are many foreclosures in there an despperate sales so dont go it alone...research or get all listings and compare !

I hate to tell you but a fence will not keep a snake out of your yard.

Ugh fencing in the area is a pain in the rear. We're currently househunting and want to be able to put up privacy fence too--- but that basically knocks us out of every neighborhood around and puts us onto a single lot on a decent size road--- seems like anywhere that is even a single street off the main paths has restrictions/covenents not only on type but height color etc. we're going to have live with the black iron/aluminum fencing i guess. we're praying the dogs cant get over it, we've always had 6 foot privacy fence here. I have to say though, i agree with the above poster, i don't think a fence will really keep snakes out. you'd have to dig it down into the ground to do that right?
