Great post Magnolia Bloom! You worked at keeping a good attitude and did all the right things while waiting for opportunities to interview. Thank you for sharing so others could see a good model that worked for someone. I don't know what you do to earn a living, but you would be a great career coach. Have a wonderful weekend.

every metro is still having bad unemployment. It won't get any better until the US is a great place to do business again.

Jacksonville unemployement is 12%. In my book, that is bad.

of course it is bad, but that means 88% of those looking for a job have one.

In the U.S., unemployment figures are based on the number of people who are receiving unemployment benefits. Those who have exhausted their benefits (which many have) and many who are working part-time but want to be working full-time, are not counted in the unemployment percentage figure.

Im about to graduate from college, and havent had a job for almost 2 years now. Its very depressing, but I never give up.

I may be moving to Miami to continue my education, Im just afraid that unemployment is high everywhere.

that's fine, bump it up about 5-6% for that and you still have 82% employeed.

One thing is FACT......unemployed people don't care about how many people are employed! Why should they???

Have less than a month before applying for my Early Retirement/SS! My job search hasn't gotten any better than when I started this Thread. I have another Thread in the Retirement forum about "being pushed into early retirement" and I'm amazed at how many people have commented on that Thread that they were indeed "pushed into" applying for SS at 62 due to being unemployed and having a TERRIBLE time finding a job! I've also been reading comments from a topic about age discrimination in LinkedIn. Some people just don't realize how much "age discrimination" is used against our age bracket......numerous people have run into it!! Oh well, I just keep on looking (and praying)!
