I saw on a news segment tonight that, since the United States is starting to get a little tougher about the enforcement of our immigration laws, scores of illegal immigrants are going to Canada - and Canada is paying all of their expenses, including housing, food, health care, and food, indefinitely! They are welcoming them with open arms (well, that is at least until their tax-paying citizens get fed-up,as we have). Let's print out maps of Canada for distribution along our Southern border, and for all of those in our country unlawfully who are just not pleased lately with our attempts to enforce our laws! This segment showed me that 'doing work other's don't want to do" is really secondary, it is the "goodies and freebies" that are being offered that are the real magnet.

That's certainly interesting. I thought Canada was cracking down on illegal immigration.

Maybe if Canada gets a taste of this problem they might see things from the USA's perspective. Maybe between the 2 countries we can get something done.

I would certainly open up a few eyes regarding the NAU as well.

If they are up in Canada I wonder how much of a problem Alaska has?

Good for Canada, I congratulate them. But that plan isn't really for the U.S.

OK, lets see… lets see if the Canadian economy grows faster now with the influx of cheap labor. Some say the reasons for the U.S. economies strong growth in the 90’s was due to cheap labor.

Nogales to Calgary? That's a LONG way for a "coyote" to travel. TWO borders to cross? What are we talking here, price-wise? I predict a lot of these low-lifes will take the "pollitos' " money, and then abandon them somewhere in the middle of Wyoming.......

Great post, Montanamom . . .

Personally, I don't care if they GO HOME or GO TO CANADA just as long as the GO!

I do know that Canada has been experiencing problems with Illegals from the Orient for years.

Overall Canada has a very high standard of living, higher than ours by most measures, even though we have a much higher GDP.

I agree the illegals up there will be able to raise Canada's GDP and expand the Canadian economy fast, but like the United States, that doesn't mean it's what's best for Canada overall. Their lower class, or underclass, would expand exponentially like ours has. Plus they would also have the huge increase in crime and social expenditures the way we have.

The United States in general would have been much better off if we kept our population down to the level we saw in the 1960s, even if it meant the US had a much lower GDP, because overall our standard of living would be higher.

Illegal immigration wise, the difference between Canada and the United States is, that the Canadians have already waken up to the problem and its damaging effects on the economy and their country. Probably due to what they've seen happen here in the United States.

The Canadians aren't going to let it get out of hand the way we have.
