I don't think any new laws will work. They can't even make the old laws work and are just disregarding them in favor of letting the illegals stay.

What makes you think there will be any tighter border control once this amnesty passes ?
We don't have the money to enforce it now with the existing laws which don't work.

Just resign yourself that every so many decades we need to give amnesty to the tens of millions of poor that come here.

And yet if one believes some of the opinions expressed on this forum, Mexicans immigrate to have anchor babies and live off of welfare, for ever and ever.

Pew Research put the number closer to 11 million.

This bill better not be thousands of pages long either. I want to be able to actually read it and comprehend it and not have it be some mess like the Health care garbage. It should be relatively easy to read the bill and determine if they screwed up or not.

We could "realistically" deport a good share of them. However, our yellow-bellied congessmen all pandering for the ethnocentric Hispanic vote won't allow them to do that. I think most of us would opt for self-deportations by removing the ability to work here, gain any benefits and ending birthright citizenship. Why aren't those the options instead of amnesty/CIR or whatever else one wants to call it that allows them to remain here? We have 23 million Americans out of work and it has already been proven that amnesty or whatever doesn't work. Awarding lawbreaking even with some fines is never the thing to do. It will never be monitored anyway. It would be a huge expense to implement this whole thing and we don't have the funds to do it.

I'm glad that these senators are working together to solve a tough issue. The GOP leadership is going to have to keep their anti-reform wing of the party quiet or Democrats and Obama will get all the credit for passing immigration reform. Either way it's an issue that needs fixed.

You won't get a link. The thing about criminals is that they don't like to be kept tabs on. Conventional wisdom is that there are about 24 million illegals in the US at present.

Some may not migrate here with that particular purpose in mind but they aren't stupid and kwow that all they need is an anchor baby or two and they will be entitled to all kinds of government support thru them. It isn't just Mexicans even though they are the largest group here illegally. There is birth tourism also which is more about Asians and other non-Mexicans coming here to give birth. Either way, I don't care what their intent is, jobs, birthright citizenship for their kids, welfare or whatever, they need to go home and stop making our lives worse while they make a better so-called life for themselves.

Its more about an agenda than anything.

The majority of illegals are hispanic. If the majority were chinese illegals would hispanics be supportive of illegal immigration?

Yes, we know. That 11 million has been a constant number for over a decade now.
Populations increase in every area except for the illegals..they remain constant.
Unbelievable huh ?
